GRAPHIC DESIGN & PREPRESS TECHNICIAN
Under general supervision of designated supervisor, utilize professional publishing, imaging, and prepress software to design publications, create graphics, and prepare publications for production on conventional offset printing presses, in accordance with graphic arts and offset printing industry standards.
PRESS PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Maintains work flow by monitoring steps of the process; setting processing variables; observing control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
A MAC OPERATOR
A Mac Operator will often do much of the less creative work in a design studio, or publishing house. This can include marked-up text corrections, spell checks and formatting documents to pre-arranged templates. However, in a pre-press or print environment, the role can be a much more technical one.
POST PRESS – BINDERS
Operate or tend binding machines that round, back, case, line stitch, press, fold, trim, or perform other binding operations on books and related articles. Bind books and other publications or finish printed products by hand or machine. May set up binding and finishing machines. Trim edges of books to size, using cutting machines, book trimming machines, or hand cutters.
